Mr. Sham L. Bathija was invited to join and chair an exceptional High Level Panel, on February 16 – 18, 2011 co-organised by the Forum, UNESCO and ISESCO and co-chaired by the Directors General of UNESCO and ISESCO. In the framework of the “South-South Cooperation Forum” (5th Yearly Arab- African Crans Montana Forum), this High Level Panel was devoted to “the South-South Cooperation”.

As usual this event gather Heads of State and Government Ministers, Member of Parliaments, Businesses around the world with a focus on issues of significant interest and its impact on global economics in this case Africa, the Arab World – including the GCC – South America and the Far East.

In accordance with the Board’s decision chaired by HSH Prince A Von Liechtenstein, Mr. Bathija was honoured with a Forum’s Gold Medal for his outstanding contribution to the Global Economic Diplomacy in particular, promotion of the ” South-South Economic Cooperation”. This medal was presented to him by HE Mr. Didier Reynders, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Belgium and HE Ambassador Jean-Paul Carteron, Chairman and Founder in the presence of various international dignitaries in Brussels on 18 February, 2011.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Bathija thanked the organizers for this honour and dedicated this Gold Medal to applaud and salute HE President Hamid Karzai`s strenuous efforts through the ” Peace Jirgha institutional process  –  for Peace, Security, National Reconciliation, Human Rights, Women, Respect for Ethnic and Religious Minorities and Prosperity of Afghanistan and its Proud and Resilient People”. These sentiments were applauded by distinguished participants attending this important forum meeting.
